BlueSocket Authenticator for iPhone/iPod Touch

BlueSocket Authenticator
BlueSocket Authenticator is intended for people who roam on wireless networks with BlueSocket authentication. Many businesses and universities use BlueSocket and it can be extremely frustrating to have to open a web browser and log in every time a valid user wants to use the wireless network. Especially on the iPhone/iPod Touch because you have to re-authenticate every time the device goes to sleep for longer than 15 minutes.

The purpose of this program is simple: One-click authentication to BlueSocket enabled networks.

Requirements

  • iPhone OS 2.0 or Higher
  • iPod Touch OS 2.0 or Higher
  • Wi-Fi connection to a BlueSocket enabled network.

Why use BlueSocket Authenticator?

  • One click authentication to BlueSocket network from your iPhone. It is as convenient as you can get.
  • No need to constantly navigate to Safari everytime you want to log back into the network.
  • Time is money! In one week this application will pay for itself by saving you valuable time if you constantly have to work on a Bluesocket network. Just think about how much time you waste constantly logging on. Add up those minutes over a week or over a year and 1.99 doesn't look so bad.
  • Auto-Close preference for immediate termination of BlueSocket Authenticator if your authentication is successful. This will get you surfing the web or checking stocks even faster!
  • Registered Connections: If your institution uses a username/password scheme then you need to select Registered Connection and fill out the Settings accordingly.
  • Guest Connections: If your institution uses a scheme where you just enter your email address then you need to select Guest Connection and set Guest Enabled=ON and fill out the Settings accordingly.

What does it look like?

From the Settings application on the iPhone just enter your username and password to the Bluesocket network you are trying to connect to. Auto Close is if you want the application to immediately terminate after a successful connection.

You will see either a successful authentication or the reason for failure after the application starts.
Here is a failed authentication.
